Inspiring and empowering youth for positive social change through education, exposure, and opportunities for meaningful action
Get InvolvedSwadhishthan began as more than just an idea. It started as a shared vision driven by a group of passionate young individuals led by Onil Kulkarni, committed to making a difference. During the 2013 drought, this collective came together to support communities in need through a water distribution initiative called Project Trishna. The impact of this effort not only addressed an immediate crisis but also strengthened their resolve to create long-term change.
What began as a small, determined group gradually evolved with members building their knowledge and perspective in social work to deepen their impact. Over time, Swadhishthan grew from organizing relief drives to designing meaningful awareness and sustainability programmes that address community needs more holistically.
Today, Swadhishthan stands as a dedicated Non Governmental Organization, working towards driving social change by fostering sensitivity, resilience and collaboration within communities, as well as across government and non government systems.
To create a noble society with empowered and responsible youth.
To inspire and empower youth by providing exposure, education and opportunities for social action, helping them realize their potential and become sensitive, responsible citizens who address societal issues.
Empowering youth through comprehensive initiatives
It is a year-long initiative designed for college students to build a strong conceptual understanding of gender-related issues.
It introduces key concepts such as gender, sex, sexuality, patriarchy, power and masculinity to help prevent gender-based violence against women.
The program is conducted in a youth-friendly manner through interactive discussions, film screenings and engaging activities.
It fosters a safe space grounded in values of non-judgment, confidentiality and respect, encouraging open dialogue and meaningful learning.

It is an advanced training for college youth who have completed Level 1 and are ready to take action through field projects.
It encourages students to create safe spaces for women and girls in their communities.
The program aims to develop a group of gender-sensitive youth leaders who can become agents of change.
These leaders work with government and non-government stakeholders to address issues related to the health and safety of women and girls.
The program is designed for students from 7th to 10th standard, focusing on their physical and mental well-being.
It helps them understand bodily and emotional changes, along with building important life and soft skills.
The program also educates students about safe and unsafe touch in an age-appropriate manner.
It includes sessions with teachers and parents to create a safe and supportive environment for adolescents.
